Description: The trend within organizations today places a high value on wellness initiatives within the workplace. With over 12 million cancer survivors in the US - many of those survivors within today's workforce - the healthcare community is challenged to provide the emotional support to survivors and their families throughout the various stages as they are faced with a cancer diagnosis. This Webinar will provide insight into a program that was developed by employees for employees at State Farm in Bloomington, IL, which has proven to be a very successful model that can be duplicated by any organization, large or small.
What began as an informal breast cancer survivor group within the workplace has now developed into a formalized knowledge sharing "Community of Practice". Employees across the country can share experiences as well as information through an on-line collaboration tool that is secured only to those members within this community.
Why should a company support such a program? One executive from State Farm will talk about the benefit to the employee as well as the company. The leadership within this community has also built a strong relationship with their local Community Cancer Center, and its Executive Director will describe how this avenue of support can impact the healthcare community in an era of budget cutbacks in their industry.
Who Should Attend: All organazations of all sizes in any profession.
Upon complete of this webinar participants will be able to:
- Describe the startup of a specific employee resource group supporting cancer survivors within State Farm.
- Have the ability to take this concept and introduce it to a corporation within your community.
- Describe the benefits to both the survivor/co-survivor (employee) as well as to the employer and the healthcare community.
