Four-Phase Framework
Phase 1: Alignment with Leadership Direction and Behavioral Assessment Profile
Step one is to assess current behavior. For this purpose CornerStone uses The Harrison Profile, an internationally recognized behavioral tool developed by Dr. Dan Harrison. The tool provides an assessment of the suitability of a person (the probability that he/she will succeed/be productive) for a particular job/function such as middle or upper management, sales, customer service and many other functional job titles by rating their behavior against various specific traits determined to be essential or desirable to increase the probability for success in a particular position. Harrison also identifies certain traits and characteristics that, if displayed often or to an extreme, may have a negative impact or hinder an individual in their ability to be an effective manager or leader. Results of the Harrison Profile help CornerStone benchmark current performance and tailor the content of workshops and learning sessions to the specific needs of your current leaders.
Phase 2: Learning Lab: Coaching Workshop and follow-up sessions (web and telephone)
Workshop leaders not only clearly explain the concepts of developmental coaching, but employ them during the presentation. Participants are divided into teams of three (coach, employee, observer) for role play exercises where they experiment with the concepts, skills and techniques presented. They leave the session with the foundation, processes and tools to immediately implement a top-down executive developmental coaching program within their organizations, including a 90-day written action plan for success. Follow-up sessions conducted via telephone.
Phase 3: Profiles and Coaching Development Plan
Leadership and Peer Review Profiles are skill-based Talent Assessments based on Competencies. The assessments compare self assessment to peer/manager/direct report assessments and recommend action plans for development in specified areas of improvement. One of our assessments is based on the concepts discussed in Monday Morning Leadership by David Cottrell, another is based on Ken Carnes’ book Management Insights as well as our LeadView Profile for leadership development. Our PeerView Profile focuses on peer assessment for high potentials and management team development. Assessments are administered online and include gap analysis, comments and development planning reports. Sample reports are available for your review
Phase 4: Application to teams and certification
Graduation/Certification: Pre-work includes attendance of foundational workshops, learning sessions and completing and passing short tests. Participants will also review and debrief the results of their Harrison Behavioral Profile and Skills Assessment with a CornerStone Advisor. They will also review completed development exercises and conduct a short coaching role play. As participants complete these activities they are awarded a Certificate of Completion and “certified” to cascade the learning to their workgroup and team leaders.
